With the holidays in full swing and time flying by like I’ve never felt, it is easy to lose focus on what is most important. Nowhere did this become more obvious than when I was on vacation recently. As I walked around a beautiful resort, I noticed that 80%+ of the people had their faces buried in their phones. They weren’t enjoying time with their families and friends, or taking in the scenery. I’m not trying to judge, because I have plenty of room for improvement.

During the holiday season, the Mount Baker Community Club holds its biennial Home Tour, this year to be held December 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting at the Clubhouse at 2811 Mr. Rainier Drive. The Home Tour allows the public to get a special glimpse inside six of its older stately homes, as well as its newer modern homes, and enjoy the festive decorations and magic with friends, complete with warming holiday treats and tea at the Clubhouse. Guests can walk the tour or use free shuttle transportation.
With the holidays upon us and so much focus on gift giving, I thought it would be nice to shift our thoughts to giving back to our community. While there are lots of us who are fortunate to have so much, there is a huge need in all of our local communities.
